| The Festival has three main components: |
| The first allows the students to experience some of the
sights and sounds of China. The music groups will embark on some sightseeing to
discover the amazing scenery, antiquities and cultural heritage that Chengdu
and Sichuan Province has to offer. They will also visit the Panda Base to see
the Giant Pandas. |
| The second is to participate in TWO performances
at the International Convention Centre or the Pride Concert Hall. At least one performance
will be in the Golden Opera House Theatre or the Pride Concert Hall. A third informal performance will be
held at an alternative venue. |
| The third is to participate in TWO professional
music workshops. |
Translators will be in attendance to facilitate the flow of information from
workshop conductors to the student group. This format will also provide the
opportunity for Orchestra and Band Directors to participate at various levels
of the workshops.
The Performers:
The festival will cater for Orchestras, Bands, Ensembles and Choirs. Each will
be required to present TWO fifteen to twenty minute performances. The music
director of each group is free to select the music to be performed. One
additional un-official performance will be arranged.
It is recommended that TWO performance programs be prepared for the official
performances. The un-official performance may be a repeat of one of the two
programs as the third performance will be outside the festival venue.
